 Fish are fueling this farm

Ernest Rando, of Matthew's Nursery in Gary, nets a tilapia from a pool used in an aquaponics operation. The aquaponics system uses fish waste to feed plants through a watering system. In turn, the plants clean the water for the fish, and the water is pumped back into the pool.

    Ernest Rando of Matthew's Nursery in Gary explains their aquaponics system to raise fish and plants in a closed environmentally friendly system.

Tilapia is not only the fastest growing meat product in this country, Rando said, but also is.........


How Does an Aquaponics Bell Siphon Work?

Ask any aquaponic gardening addicted man what the coolest part of his aquaponics system is, and chances are his answer will have nothing to do with fish or plants.  Most men in aquaponic gardening I know, including my husband, will instantly say that the Bell Siphon is the coolest part of their system.  Why?
